Your Travel Notes

Currency

The British Pound Sterling (£) is the official currency. Credit and debit cards are accepted almost everywhere, though small cash notes are useful for taxis and markets.

Cuisine

London’s food scene is among the world’s most diverse. Beyond classic fish and chips and afternoon tea, the city offers everything from street food markets in Borough and Brick Lane to Michelin-starred dining.

Transport

The London Underground (the Tube) is the fastest way to travel, supported by buses and overground trains. Walking is ideal in central districts, while black cabs and ride-hailing apps are widely available.

Tipping etiquette

Restaurants may add a 10–12% service charge. If not, tipping 10% is standard. In pubs tipping is not expected, while in taxis it’s common to round up the fare.

When to go

London can be visited year-round. Spring brings blossoms to the city’s parks, summer is alive with festivals and open-air events, autumn highlights the cultural calendar, and winter sparkles with Christmas markets and lights.
