A year-round mountain resort where Hemsedal meets the slopes

Set between the village centre and the ski base of Hemsedal, in Norway’s Hallingdal valley, Fyri Resort brings an Alpine spirit to the Scandinavian mountains. Opened in 2019, this award-winning boutique resort combines contemporary comfort with an easy, sociable atmosphere that suits active days as much as long evenings by the fire. Snow-covered peaks frame the setting in winter, while summer reveals green slopes, rivers and more than forty trails that begin a few steps from the rooms. The result feels closer to a lively lodge than a conventional hotel, relaxed in style yet generous in everything it offers.

With 145 rooms, including 11 suites, Fyri Resort is as well suited to couples as it is to families and groups of friends. Standard Double rooms provide a comfortable base after a day outdoors, while Superior Doubles add welcome extra space. Suites are designed for families travelling together, and the Executive Suite sleeps eight, with the scale and layout of a private apartment. Minibars, pod coffee machines, bathrobes, slippers and luxury bath products feature throughout, with rooms looking out towards the surrounding summits.

Restaurant Liv crowns the main building on the fourth floor, beneath double-height timber ceilings, colourful banquettes and walls of glass facing the peaks. Breakfast is served here every morning, lunch follows the seasons, and dinner wanders through Mediterranean flavours, with wood-fired pizza among the favourites. Next door, Liv Bar pairs fresh oysters and drinks with one of the resort’s finest terraces, while ROA, off the lobby, is the hotel’s living room, with a fireplace, games, sushi and light bites. Across the street, Rambler adds a touch of the Alps, with pinsa on the terrace in summer and fondue in the colder months.
