The Mellah Hotel, Marrakech, Morocco

The Mellah Hotel

An intimate and retro-chic retreat in Marrakech’s medina
Set within the winding alleys of Marrakech’s ancient quarter, The Mellah Hotel is where tradition and design strike a playful balance. Behind its unassuming façade lies a world of tiled courtyards, arches softened by light, and interiors dressed with a bold touch of mid-century flair. Velvet textures in deep burgundy, olive greens and warm yellows create a mood that feels both nostalgic and modern – a retro haven with the soul of a riad.
Guest rooms are designed as intimate sanctuaries. Each space combines handcrafted Moroccan details with vintage accents: mosaic-tiled bathrooms, retro lamps that cast a golden glow, and bedding so plush you’ll find it hard to leave. Some offer private terraces, others frame views of the rooftops and medina below, but all carry the same sense of calm and understated glamour – the perfect antidote to the city’s vibrant pulse.

Reviews
We really loved our experience and would recommend this Riad.
Long post alert! My stay at Mellah was, without a doubt, one of the most personal, thoughtful, and memorable hospitality experiences I've ever had till date From the very beginning, I felt genuinely cared for. I initially tried to make my reservation through the website but ran into a few issues. I clicked the WhatsApp button, and within moments someone reached out, guided me through the booking process, and made everything effortless. That level of attentiveness set the tone for the rest of my stay. I arrived much later than expected, long after the kitchen had closed. Even so, the Food & Beverage Manager went above and beyond by preparing a fresh salad, warm bread, and a beautiful welcome drink. It may seem like a simple gesture, but after a long journey, it meant the world. It was delicious, comforting, and more than enough to keep me satisfied until breakfast the next morning. The food, however, was the true highlight of my stay. As someone who travels often, I rarely choose to eat all my meals in-house beyond breakfast. At Mellah, that changed completely. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and full of heart. Chef Ilham and her team's cooking felt like being wrapped in the warmth of home. Every bite reminded me of my mother's cooking comforting, authentic, and made with love. It stirred memories I didn't expect and left me missing my mum's cooking in the best possible way. Then came a moment I'll never forget. When Samad learned that I was a chef and had fallen in love with the property's flatbread, mentioning that I would love to learn how to make it, he did something incredibly kind. She arranged for Chef Ilham to give me a private cooking lesson right there at the property, completely free of charge. I was genuinely blown away by such a thoughtful and generous gesture. Experiences like these can't be manufactured they come from people who truly care about creating meaningful connections with their guests. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to Samad , Chef Ilham, the Food & Beverage team, and everyone at Mellah. You didn't just provide exceptional hospitality you created memories that I'll carry with me for a very long time. You have my heart, my deepest gratitude, and, of course, my palate.
A hidden gem. So grateful for everybody that works at The Mellah and that treated us with so much kindness. The quality of the service is amazing. The rooms are beautiful. The rooftop restaurant and pool is amazing. Grateful for having found this little piece of heaven. Looking forward to returning.
