Recently returned from two wonderful weeks at Datai, our third stay there since 2024. Truly the closest thing to paradise we have ever encountered and our favourite place on Earth. Never before felt such a strong emotional connection to a place...one that makes me sob upon departure! For me, what makes the Datai truly unique: 1. Wildlife & Conservation - nature is at the heart of the Datai's DNA. The Datai Pledge demonstrates the resort's commitment to preserving - a comprehensive conservation and sustainability programme. We love being close to wildlife and being able to see Dusky Langur monkeys, Macaques, Giant Hornbills, Colugos and Giant Black Squirrels (often from our Rainforest Villa terrace), is joyful. 2. People - by far the most attentive, sincere, genuinely warm staff we have ever had the pleasure of encountering. The people are what make Datai special. From housekeeping to buggy drivers to the reception team to cocktail bar staff and the spa team - they are experts in delivering a phenomenal customer experience. Special mentions to our favourites, who all go above and beyond to make our stay even more special - Dinesh in the Dining Room, Azhari at the Beach Club, Jessica & Shaiful. 3. Location - Nestled in a spectacularly beautiful ancient rainforest on a gorgeous beach, the Datai is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. 4. Food & Drink - from the lavish buffet breakfast to the delicious relaxed lunches at The Beach Club, to dinners at The Pavillion (our very favourite - the best Thai food we have ever had), Gulai House and Beach Club the food at the Datai is world-class. The Dining Room dinner is super special and Michelin star worthy. Evening cocktails listening to Tano's beautiful piano playing whilst watching the sunset over the rainforest as hornbills soar and glide are what memories are made of. 5. Experiences & Activities - The nature experiences were fantastic! We had the pleasure of meeting Dev on Mandi Embun - his passion and commitment to conservation and wildlife was a joy to behold! We also enjoyed the impressive programme of fitness and wellbeing activities - we loved the Yoga and Pilates classes. So, a huge thank you Datai team, for another truly wonderful, memorable stay. We miss you and have already booked our fourth Datai holiday in 2027!
My favourite resort in Malaysia and top 3 in SE Asia! The Datai is Langkawi's inaugural luxury resort and it has maintained its position as #1 in Langkawi despite the passing of time. Its incredibly well maintained and the location and sense you get when you stay there is just magical. I don't think there's another place I've been to where you feel immersed in the rainforest but at the same time enjoy the beauty of the beach. The beach is great to swim in and the food is great. Such friendly service as well, a special shoutout to the breakfast team who took great care of our group (with 6 kids under the age of 10!), the buggy drivers and Danish who was my personal trainer for two sessions. Seriously one of the best PT sessions I've had so if you're at the resort plz do book him in! One has to work off all the good food :o) Comfortable rooms and love seeing the hornbills, nature walks at night (saw a flying lemur)! We want to make visiting The Datai an annual affair.

This resort has my heart, albeit being 45 mins away from the airport and Pantai Cenang, the ambience and hospitality this resort has given me can’t be faulted. 10/10. Will definitely be repeating this resort for years to come. Thank you to the Datai team for the wonderful stay.
