Maldives
A tropical paradise of coral atolls, turquoise waters, and overwater resorts
Introducing Maldives
In the Maldives, each sunrise is a waterside performance: your bungalow reflects in turquoise seas, coral gardens glow beneath the waves, and ocean hush soothes your soul. Embark on a traditional dhoni excursion, then cap your day with a sunset cocktail on the sand.

Currency
The official currency is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), but USD is widely used in resorts and tourist atolls. Credit cards are broadly accepted.
Cuisine
Local specialties include mas huni (tuna and coconut salad), spicy fish curries with rice, and coconut-based desserts. Many resorts also feature international and Asian-fusion cuisine.
Transport
All transfers between the airport and resorts are handled by seaplane or speedboat arranged by the resort, ensuring comfort and punctuality. For local exploration within the atolls, private boat charters or guided excursions can be booked.
Tipping etiquette
In luxury resorts, service charge is usually included; for excursions or particularly attentive staff, an additional tip of around 5–10% is appreciated.
When to go
The best time is the dry season, December to April, with clear skies and calm seas. From May to November, the monsoon season brings occasional rain but lower rates and vibrant reef life.
