Historic proportions remain, but the mood is warm rather than formal. Arched windows, handcrafted furniture, wool throws and richly coloured rugs soften the architecture, while Swedish details give each room and suite its own character. Courtyard-facing rooms overlook magnolia trees, while the Penthouse Suites rise above Södermalm with rooftop views, separate living areas, fireplaces and freestanding bathtubs.
Dining moves from Bistro’s relaxed seasonal cooking, shaped by Swedish produce and daily chalkboard specials, to Matsalen’s more intimate set menu beneath the restored frescoes of the former chapel. Breakfast is equally generous, with everything from pastries and porridge to French toast and fried chicken sandwiches.

Lovely boutique hotel in Stockholm We had a lovely stay at Stockholm Stadshotell. The hotel is in a great location in a quiet neighbourhood, slightly further out from the main centre but still within walking distance of plenty of places. We also found it really easy to get picked up from the hotel when needed, which was convenient. The staff were one of the highlights of our stay. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, particularly the girls on reception, who were so lovely and chatty. The bar staff were also very friendly and made us feel really at home during our stay. We were a group of three (2 sisters and our mum) and were really pleased with the room. It was great to be able to stay together in one room, and the sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable! The room was clean, fresh and well presented, with everything we needed. The hotel has a lovely boutique feel and the rooms felt both functional and luxurious. Our room was on the ground floor, but we didn’t find it noisy at all and slept really well. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The combination of the quiet location, beautiful boutique style, comfortable rooms and, most importantly, the lovely staff made this a great base for exploring Stockholm. Unfortunately, the sauna was out of order on these days. We would happily stay here again!
One of the best stays I’ve had in a while. A warm welcoming staff. Beautifully decorated. Wonderful soft linens and cloud like pillows. A very comfortable sleep. High end fixtures in the bathrooms. Loved the neighborhood tons of wonderful cafes.
I loved my stay at Stockholm Stadshotell. The hotel itself is beautifully curated; boutique, thoughtful design, and a great location. The staff is wonderfully helpful. It feels like you've stepped into a trend, big estate house in the middle of Stockholm. I highly recommend this hotel.
