A forest lodge above Bolzano with sweeping Dolomite views

High on the Renon plateau, ADLER Ritten feels suspended between forest and sky. Bolzano lies surprisingly close below, yet up here the city gives way to sunlit meadows, larch woods and an uninterrupted sweep of Dolomite peaks. At around 1,200 metres above sea level, the air feels cooler and clearer, the horizon opens in every direction and the pace begins to change before you have even reached the Lodge.

The architecture gathers quietly around a woodland glade and a deep-green natural pond. Dark timber, broad panes of glass and steeply pitched roofs give the property a strong Alpine character without leaning into the usual mountain clichés. Junior Suites bring spruce interiors, generous balconies and private bio-saunas, while the freestanding chalets offer more privacy among the trees. Depending on the category, they unfold across one or two levels with larchwood interiors, open fireplaces, terraces and far-reaching mountain views. The expansive Panorama Suites add separate bedrooms, private balconies and large living spaces designed for longer, slower stays.

Few pools make their setting feel quite this present. The 23-metre saltwater infinity pool is heated throughout the year, flowing from inside towards the open air with the Dolomites filling the view ahead. Around it, the spa seems to disappear into the woodland rather than stand apart from it. A Finnish sauna and aromatic bio-sauna sit among the trees, joined by a steam bath, quiet relaxation rooms and treatments inspired by Alpine herbs and the scents of the forest. Even the panoramic fitness area and yoga spaces keep the landscape in sight, making movement feel naturally connected to the surroundings.
