Greece

Uncover ancient myths, enchanted islands, and Mediterranean flavors of Greece

Introducing Greece

From the Acropolis’s temples to Santorini’s black-sand shores, Greece marries myth with nature. Behold the Parthenon at dawn, dine in a traditional taverna in Rhodes, and finish your day watching the sun set over the Aegean from a balcony carved into Cycladic white rock.

Your Travel Notes

Currency

Greece uses the euro (€). Notes range from €5 to €500; credit cards and contactless payments are widely accepted, but carry cash for small venues on minor islands.

Cuisine

Don’t miss moussaka, gyros, Greek salad, and desserts like baklava. Pair meals with a glass of retsina or a shot of ouzo.

Transport

Ferries regularly connect Athens with the Cyclades and Dodecanese; for quick travel between main islands use high-speed services, while overnight ferries suit more distant routes. On smaller islands, move on foot or by local taxi.

Tipping etiquette

Tipping isn’t mandatory but appreciated: leave around 5–10% in restaurants if service isn’t included and small change for servers and taxi drivers.

When to go

May–June and September–October bring mild weather and fewer crowds; July–August is perfect for swimming but very busy. Spring flowers bloom inland, while autumn harvests enliven the vineyards.
