Thailand

Tropical islands, ancient temples, and a culture of gentle beauty

Introducing Thailand

Thailand is a land of contrasts and harmony. Golden temples rise beside bustling markets, jungle-covered mountains give way to turquoise seas, and ancient traditions live effortlessly alongside modern life. From the vibrant energy of Bangkok to the slow rhythm of island life in the south and the cultural heart of Chiang Mai in the north, Thailand invites travelers to slow down, explore deeply, and reconnect with simple pleasures. Known for its warmth, spirituality, and world-class hospitality, it’s a destination that stays with you long after you leave.

Your Travel Notes

Currency

The Thai Baht (THB) is the local currency. Credit cards are accepted in hotels and larger restaurants, but cash is widely used for markets, local eateries, and transport. ATMs are easy to find throughout the country.

Cuisine

Thai cuisine is vibrant, aromatic, and deeply regional. Expect bold flavors balancing sweet, spicy, salty, and sour, from pad thai and green curry to fresh seafood and street food specialties. Meals are often shared, making dining a social and lively experience.

Transport

Domestic flights connect distant regions quickly, while trains and buses are reliable for longer journeys. In cities, taxis, tuk-tuks, and ride-hailing apps are common. On islands, scooters and boats are the main ways to get around.

Tipping etiquette

Tipping is not expected but always appreciated. In restaurants, rounding up the bill or leaving a small amount is sufficient. Hotel staff and guides welcome small tips as a gesture of thanks.

When to go

November to February is the most comfortable season, with lower humidity and pleasant temperatures. March to May is hotter, while June to October brings lush landscapes and occasional tropical rains.
