Set near Kuchchaveli, just north of Trincomalee, Uga Jungle Beach feels wonderfully removed from the usual rhythm of a beach escape. Wrapped in dense tropical greenery and opening onto a long, near-deserted stretch of sand, it brings together two landscapes that rarely feel this balanced: wild jungle on one side, the Indian Ocean on the other. The result is a stay that feels private, immersive and deeply calming, with nature shaping the atmosphere at every turn.
The villas are tucked discreetly into the landscape, hidden among mangroves, lagoon edges and thick foliage in a way that makes each one feel almost secret. Some sit closer to the beach, others look towards the lagoon, but all are designed with a clean, contemporary ease that lets the setting take centre stage. There is a castaway quality to the experience, but it is paired with real comfort, making the resort feel less rugged retreat and more refined barefoot escape.
The sense of seclusion never comes at the expense of what you can do here. There is a curving pool that slips through the greenery beneath the trees, a quiet private beach safe for swimming throughout the year, and a spa set close to the shore with open-air treatment rooms for massages, Ayurvedic therapies and more restorative rituals. Bikes and watersports add a little movement when wanted, but for most guests, the real luxury lies in the stillness: the shade, the sea air and the feeling of being somewhere genuinely off the map.

How to get there
Given the hotel’s secluded setting, having a rental car is a practical choice. Roads in the area can be unpredictable, so it is best to travel with the required international driving documents already in place. Free public parking is available on site without reservation, and valet parking is also offered.

Wir waren in einer Lagoon Cabin untergebracht und konnten so abends die Krokodile im umzäunten See beim Landgang beobachten. Die Anlage ist bestens in den Dschungel integriert und sehr weitläufig. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und aufgeschlossen und erfüllte uns jeden Wunsch im Handumdrehen. Das Essen ist a la Card und es gibt jeden Tag ein neues Menu, die verschiedenen Gänge sind frei kombinierbar. Es gab in fünf Aufenthaltstagen tatsächlich gar nichts, was uns nicht geschmeckt hat! Absolute Weltklasse! Der Strand ist ebenfalls weitläufig und sehr ruhig. Wer Idylle und Ruhe sucht und bereit ist seinen Urlaub im Einklang mit der Natur zu verbringen, ist hier goldrichtig. Die Preise sind der Hotelklasse angemessen. Wichtiger Hinweis: Außerhalb des Hotels hat die Region im Vergleich zu anderen Bereichen Sri Lankas wenig zu bieten. Kleine Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Geldautomaten erreicht man in 20min mit dem Tuk Tuk. Im Hotel bekommt man aber durchaus alles, was man zum Relaxen braucht. Als Abschluss einer Rundreise sehr zu empfehlen!

We recently stayed at Uga Jungle Beach, Trincomalee, and it was truly one of the best hotel experiences we have had. From the moment we arrived, Mr. Chirantha welcomed us with a warm and pleasant smile, which immediately made us feel comfortable and welcomed. The service throughout our stay was exceptional. A special thank you to the kitchen and restaurant team, especially Mr. Prabodha and Mr. Ravindu, whose names I remember, as well as all the other staff members who looked after us so well. Everyone was friendly, helpful, attentive, and always ready to assist us with a smile. The food was superb, the rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and the entire property and atmosphere were amazing. What impressed us most was the genuine hospitality of every single staff member. We received some of the best service we have ever experienced at a hotel, and our stay was truly memorable. Thank you to the entire Uga Jungle Beach team for making our visit so special. We would definitely love to visit again and highly recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone visiting Trincomalee. ❤️🌴
